How to bathe a newborn baby girl?

First time mom due May 24th being induced on May 3rd, I’m having a girl and just realized I don’t know how to bathe a newborn🤦🏻‍♀️ for the most part I understand the process of cleaning and rinsing the baby but I just have this one question. Do I wash her girl parts? Or would the soap irritate her skin down there? Do I just rinse that area with water, or just leave things be down there? Do I wash her crotch/pelvic area below the belly button?

If you want her to have a bath after birth, have the nurse show you how. You will be doing a sponge bath until the rest of the cord falls off. Be sure to use a soap that's unscented and is for sensitive skin.

I highly recommend Norwex body or baby cloth. It is a high end microfiber that removes dirt and germs without soap. Since it’s a cloth you don’t have to put your newborn in a tub or rinse them. My babies didn’t have a ton of hair but had some and we used it from head to toe. So much easier than a full bath and just as effective.

We never got shown before we left the hospital 😩 thank god for my mother in law because I had no idea! Just use water on her nether regions, not soap. Once the cord fell off I just sponged over it gently with just water also

My nurses asked if we wanted help with giving her a bath. We said yes and it was so helpful. She explained everything she did and we were able to do it at home. They gave us information on how to handle her cord stump as well.

So normally the hospital will go over it with you. They just do a sponge bath. Atleast mine does. Then when you go home I would just do the same with a wash cloth. You wont put her directly in the tub, not until the umbilical cord falls off. So what worked for us was having my husband or I hold her in the warm bathroom and just wipe her down with warm water and soap. The private area just do with water. No need for soap.
