PMDD: How do you know?

Question

I think I might have PMDD. Has anyone been diagnosed with it and if so, how did the doctor determine it? What are some home remedies to try before any other types of medication?

Answer

I just told my gynecologist my symptoms, described it mostly like PMS on steroids.  I was pretty much put straight on birth control but the two I've tried haven't worked well at all so I'm currently not taking anything.  He has also offered to write me a Rx for Prozac which I'm giving serious consideration to right now.  
Have changed quite a few of my eating habits but haven't noticed any substantial results.

I was diagnosed when I was 15. The doctor asked me a lot about PMS, and the intensity of my emotions. I didn’t try any home remedies. I just went on the pill and for the most part, it works. I also try eating healthy and adding more vegetables to my diet when I’m PMSing.
