Safe cuddling with my newborn

My mom told me not to put my arm on her hip or waist when we cuddle because it can hurt her physical development... is this true? We lay together while she naps/ I’m watching TV. Are there safe cuddling guidelines??

Edit: she’s only 2 months so idk if that plays into anything... my mom was talking about the weight of my arm being dangerous to her... it sounds possible, but then again she also believes in a lot of old wives tales lol
