Anyone using a midwife?

Question

How many of you choose a midwife rather than an OB and why? Im really wanting this second pregnancy to go my way and natural. Opinions welcome :)

I will use a midwife also, even though our insurance doesn't cover. Because I think it's safer to start at home if you have no particular risks. Less chance of an unneeded c-section.

Might make a prenatal apt with my ob/gyn too, just to cover all our bases. Haven't decided.

My first appointment will be with a midwife in two weeks. I'm really looking forward to it. My sister in law used a midwife at a hospital and said the experience was wonderful and natural, just the way she wanted it!

I prefer a midwife because I feel like they take your feelings, concerns and preferences more seriously than doctors.  I had to have pitocin with baby #2 and did not have an epidural or any pain medications.  It was hard but totally worth it.  I didn't take birthing classes with either pregnancy and wish I would have.  Hope this helps!
