Potty training before more kids?

Question

So everyone I’m talking to tells me to not have another kid before the first one is potty trained now I’m not even talking about having another kid they ask then I say we want another eventually and they say to do it after she’s potty trained that it’s easier. I’m just curious how true this is?

Yes and no. It’s cheaper if you don’t have two kids in diapers at the same time, but many kids who are potty trained can regress (start peeing/pooping their pants) for attention because they feel like the baby gets more attention than them.

I personally find Diapers easier, unless your child is way older. My daughter is almost three and I have to help her wash her hands every time she uses the potty, when she poops I have to wipe her. I have to clean and disinfect her potty multiple times daily. Accidents require a bath or shower, change of clothes and cleaning.

I wouldn’t base my decision on when to have another baby on when the first one is out of nappies. When you’re ready for another one, have another one, then decide if your first is ready for potty training or not.
Cost wise it’s cheaper to only have one in nappies, but other than that I don’t think it matters

My first is 2.5 and baby #2 is due next month. My mom had 5 babies and she told me not to push potty training since he’s not ready and he would most likely regress after baby comes.

We have 3 in diapers. 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s expensive but I wasn’t going to hold off having kids because our oldest is stubborn and doesn’t want to give up diapers yet.

i waited until my daughter was potty trained. after her brother was born she went through a regression due to the stress. i much rather would’ve changed a diaper than clean up her pee mess all over the place lol.

It depends on the person. I had two kids in diapers and we survived. Was it fun? No but its doable. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Im expecting a baby in July and my youngest will be 2.5y but isnt showing any signs of being ready to potty train so i think we might have 2 in diapers again. Its not going to be the end of the world

Depends on the kid.  We had the next before the previous was potty trained for all of our kids.  Part of it was that we had little choice as to when potty training would stick.
Our kids potty trained later - at 3.5, 3.5 and 2.5 (pee), 3.5 (poop).  The middle kid had accidents often enough because he would hold his pee until his bladder was about to explode.  The other two did really well once they decided they were big enough to use the toilet.
The thing is, you could have your kid potty trained, and then they regress after baby anyway.  Potty training isn’t always 100% straight forward.

I have two in diapers. They are 21 months apart. My boys wear cloth and they use the same ones my first was using. I'm not spending any more money on both of them than I did for just my first. Not very much more work either, except the diaper load is a little bigger. 
I did try to get my first potty trained when I was pregnant and he just wasn't ready yet. I don't mind that they are both in diapers and I wouldn't have waited to have my second until after potty training.
