My husband and best friend said they read it as the second one but idk how.... I’ve never read it that way.. i love this name and the spelling and they told me everyone is gonna pronounce it was a hard G like Goat.. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I think it's a British thing. I worked with a girl in England named Gemma, and it was pronounced with a hard G. That was difficult to remember for me.

We have a Gemma and who is almost 2 and we’ve really only had one person, in-laws family friend, who has said it wrong. He insists it’s because he knew someone who pronounced it that way which I can’t imagine is true haha. 
More likely scenario is you’ll have to be careful to enunciate the M sound over the phone because people might mishear you as Jenna.

I’m one of those weirdos that pronounces it with a hard G 😬 I guess it’s because I saw it written before I heard it and they always taught us in school that G makes that sound lol 😂
