Pitocin stories??

Question

I am 37 weeks + 2 days. I am being induced on April 30th (39 weeks and 1 day) due to IUGR. 
Does anyone have any Pitocin stories to share? How was your labor and contractions? Did you end up in a c-section? How did it all go? I’m going crazy over here ladies! 
FTM as well. 😅

I had it, labor went great. Also had an epidural. Labor was only 9 hours and daughter cane out in 6 pushes. Plan on being induced again for my second baby girl May 7th. 😁

My pitocin story is horrible, I was in labor for almost 2 days. I had been dilated to 3cm for weeks before being induced. I slowly slowly progressed, but the contractions were so intense and close together. I ended up with an epidural that I originally did not want. I'm being induced again with this one and I'm praying and trying everything to get him to come on his own so I dont have to do that again. Contractions are stronger and more intense from everyone I've heard had pitocin.

For me I had my daughter 2 hours after they started Pitocin- I always react strongly to medication. I was at 1 cm beforehand and pushed for about 5 minutes. I would say it was good except for the fact that it made me have non stop contractions with no breaks. That part was awful but I guess at least it went fast.

I was dilated to a 5 when I showed up to be induced. My labor was quick and painless. I had my baby less than 6 hours after starting pitocin.

It’s good that you’re already a little dilated! Maybe ask your doc to do a membrane sweep a day or two prior to induction if possible, that could really move things along. I wanted to have an unmedicated birth but I hit 9 hours on the pitocin, and because I wasn’t even dilated a fingertip when we started induction (my body just wasn’t ready) I progressed very slow and was only at 3.5 cm after 9 hours (I had all over body tremors, was vomiting, and crying from the back labor). However, if you plan to get an epidural, as I did after 9 hours, you will be ok! Everyone’s experience is unique! Wishing you the best!

I agree with the ladies above. If you have any type of head start with dilation I’d ask to start with cervidil or cytotec before escalating to pitocin. I came in at fully effaced and 2cm I believe and I only needed two doses of cervidil and I did the rest of the labor on my own. It was much more pleasant than the pitocin which unfortunately makes people really nauseous sometimes.

I was induced my last pregnancy at 38 weeks due to IUGR also. I wasn’t dialated at all but they started with cervidil. To be completely honest it wasn’t my worst induction as far as pain but I was in labor for 49 hours before she was born. No c-section though which I was grateful for.

I had pitocin with my last two. I had already started dilating on my own though. No epidural. Didn’t really feel contractions until water broke, then I went from a 6 to a 10 within 30mins. No issues at all. No C-Sec. 😊

I'm getting induced at 38 weeks and go Monday to be checked. If not dilated she is going to start with cervadil to hope it helps the pitocin work! I'm so nervous being a FTM and never going through this before. I'm so glad you posted this😊

I was induced at 40 weeks with my first.  I HIGHLY recommend asking them to start your induction with some sort of cervical dilation, either cervadil, or manual (foley). Especially since you're early term. I over react to everything, so pitocin was awful for me. I had 90 second contractions, every 30 seconds within an hour of then starting. I got an epidural  7 hours after they started pitocin, baby was born 4 hours after that. I only pushed for 45 mins. Aside from the ridiculous contractions, it was uneventful and my entire induction, cervadil included was 29 hours.
