Am I a terrible mom?

I’m a FTM and my son is 2 weeks old today. My husband is from England and his parents and grandparents are here visiting to see the baby until next week. His family doesn’t cook and they only go out to eat. Tonight we have to go out to dinner and I’m really not 100% ready to take him to a restaurant. His mom is trying to get us to take him everywhere this week and I’ve had to put my foot down a couple times. My husband has been getting shit from him mom about us being “overprotective” because we don’t want to expose him to too many germs yet. We live in the northeast and there’s still a huge flu season going on. Does taking him out this young make me a terrible mom? I am really anxious about it but if we don’t go my husband will never hear the end of it and he’s been through enough this week with his mom.

I didn't even feel like putting on real clothes at 2 weeks pp. They are being completely unreasonable. One of these people needs to cook or pick something up to bring back home.

You're a "terrible mom" if you allow other people to make decisions about your child. You're baby, your rules. MIL will get over it, she got to raise her kids how she wanted you get to do the same.

If your baby is only two weeks then how are you feeling after giving birth. I know I was still sore and didn’t want to go all over the place or take my baby all over.

Honestly it’s your child and your decision. If flu season makes you nervous you 💯 % have every right to want to stay home. Let your husband go out with his family and bring you a to go box. Stick to your guns 💪 babies immune systems are very susceptible the first few weeks and honestly most older generations don’t know about some of the new recommendations by doctors. 
I understand your predicament but your husband needs to tell his mom to drop it. It’s your decision as the parents and they’re entitled to their opinions but in the end it’s none of their business. They should respect your wishes.

Girl. I drove from Florida to Maine when my daughter was 2 weeks old. Brought her to see all kinds of family members. Drove back at 4weeks old. And then have flown back and forth a total of 6 times. She is 6 months old on the 20th. She had a small cold ONCE and she was basically just sniffly. She is vaccinated, but obviously wasn’t when I was driving cross-country. You’re fine mama!

Hey everyone - so I ended up going to dinner last night with them. He slept on my chest the whole time until the food came and then I put him in his carrier while I ate. Naturally she had something to say regardless. It just sucks because we can’t win. I’m so over people mom-shaming all the time. She wanted to have us go to an outdoor shopping center today - it’s chilly and raining and I told my husband absolutely not. He ended up taking her on his own thankfully. I just don’t understand why people feel compelled to judge. Thank you to everyone that gave their ideas without judging. “Mom-ing” is hard

Don’t go! It’s totally unreasonable to expect you to go ANYWHERE. They should be waiting on you hand and foot and bringing food in. Take care of yourself and your baby and don’t apologize.

Do what you want and need. Not only aren’t you comfortable taking your baby out but your body is still healing!
