First time trying anal - NEED TIPS

So my boyfriend really wants to try anal but I’m not too keen on it as I’m super nervous about the pain. He once tried putting the tip in and I almost cried because of how painful it was. I want to try it again but does anyone know what I should do to prepare for it?? I also really don’t want any shit on his dick because that’s 🤢🤢
