Kissing babies?

Please answer this for me. Why are some parents so against kissing or having a family member kiss their newborns???

Because babies are VERY susceptible to disease since their immune systems arent strong yet. RSV (and many other things) can be caught and is very dangerous for an infant.

Not only germs, but it’s weird if you really think about it.... nobody kisses my whole face when they see me, ya know?

It’s disgusting. Human’s mouth is the dirtiest place on their body and I can’t even imagine anyone kissing my baby. I might be paranoid but only me and my husband are allowed to touch baby’s head, hands and face

Many many reasons. Cold sores being a big one. I don't mind people kissing the top of the head but mouth and hands are a no go. When babies get sick it's alot worse than an adult

For me, it’s because there are so many germs coming from all of them. Personally, I don’t know where their mouth has been or when the last time they were sick is or if they are carrying a virus at all, and I don’t want to risk that for my baby. Not to mention, herpes, etc.

Not only are babies’ immune systems so new and fragile, but kissing can be legitimately dangerous. A good portion of the general population is infected with the herpes simplex virus (cold sore) which can be spread to infants through kissing them. This can cause pain, rashes, breakouts, fever, and a slew of other symptoms onto the infant. On top of that, the virus will never go away, it will remain in their system for the rest of their lives. 
It’s just not worth the risk to let people kiss your babies. People need to keep their lips to themselves.

Babies are very susceptible to bacteria and viruses since they do not have an immune system. Same reason they want you to take your baby (6months and younger) immediately to the ER if he or she is suffering from a fever.

Definitely cold sores for me! I’ve never had a cold sore ever in my life, and neither has my husband. So I feel comfortable kissing my babies! But I don’t feel comfortable letting grandparents kiss on the lips!
