What’s everyone’s opinion on your newborn sleeping in the bassinet that attaches to a pack and play? 
I have one with the bassinet and the changing table that attach to the top of the play pen. But just seeing the recall for the rockers recently has me a bit nervous. I’m not sure why. Have any of you used them for precious kids? Thoughts? Is it anything to worry about or should I just skip the bassinet all together and put my baby straight into his or her crib as soon as we come home?

I used it for my first son and it worked perfectly fine never had an issue. I also used the rock and play with our second and again never had a problem and will end up using it with our 3rd as well. As long as your child is buckled the rock and play is safe.

We used the pack and play bassinet with our first. She actually preferred it to her crib. Just move baby to the lower level as soon as they exhibit signs of rolling over and you are good.

So there’s the “bassinet” part of a pack n play which is like a normal flat surface, just closer to the top of the PnP so it’s easier, and then there are these things that attach to/ hang onto the side of the PnP. My understanding is the first is safe for sleep, and the second is only for supervised sleep. Not sure which type you meant. We used both with my first, she preferred the side hanging one that we used for naps cause it’s cozier, but we didn’t trust it for unsupervised sleep over night.

From what I understand (I am not sure where I read this from so please let me know if I am wrong), in order for something to be considered a bassinet, it has to adhere to certain regulations. 
Similar items like sleepers, rockers, do not have to adhere to those regulations because they aren’t considered a “bassinet”

We used a mini pack and play when our son was a newborn. We plan to do the same with our daughter. It was easier and preferable to have the baby close to us and in the same room for the first couple of months. But no, there’s nothing wrong with using the crib day one either.

I plan on having the pack and play with the bassinet on the main level of my house for when the baby is napping.

My daughter was in one until she was 6 months old. (I had to keep a closer eye on her due to a heart condition she was born with. She was also delayed due to the heart condition and a genetic condition she was also born with so I didn't have to work about rolling over.) She's 2 now and perfectly fine in a full sized toddler bed. The bassinet should be fine.
