Will you do this...?

Question

We are moving to a new building which has nice amenities like a roof top terrace with grills and sun beds. There is also a gym and a movie room, game room etc... We are planning to get a long distance baby camera and spend some time in the building after our daughter goes to bed at nights. She sleeps through the night since 8-9 months and even if she wakes up she goes back to sleep on her own. If she is sick of course we will not leave her and we will be really 5-10 mins walking distance at all times. I am wondering what other parents are thinking about this? We have no family/friend to have some time for ourselves since she born. We thought people who live in big houses with multiple stories must be hanging out at their backyard all the time while their kids are sleeping upstairs right..? What do you think? We really wanna know. Thanks!

Honestly i wouldn’t but maybe I’m overprotective. If a fire breaks out in the complex then you are 5min away which is the difference between life and death. Someone could break into your apartment. You never know what will happen. I wouldn’t risk it.

You do you. For me, I am uncomfortable being 5 minutes walking time away from
My unattended child. I wouldn’t do this. I’m not judging you, I’m just sharing that I wouldn’t do this.

I think just know your limits like don’t go overboard with the distance and time you’re away. My husband and I will go to our neighbors after we put our son down and bring the monitor for game nights and etc. But our neighbors front door is literally five feet from ours (townhouse). I make sure my son is secure in his crib and the house is locked up so no one gets in but us. I think just don’t get carried away with it and be smart about it. If we go any further away (we live across from restaurants) we just get a sitter to hang out on our couch and watch movies until we are back. You can usually get a friend to do this or pay someone almost next to nothing to do that.

5-10 minutes away seams far. We spend time in our yard during nap times and after bedtime, but we are less than a minute away. We use a video monitor and it’s worked well for us. It would just depend on your comfort level.

I leave him in his crib while working in the garage or backyard, or check mail. With camera. 
But they are all 5 seconds away from him.
To me, personally, 5-10 minutes is too far away. An adult can choke within 4-6 minutes with blocked airways. A toddler- much faster.

I live on a farm and once my lo goes to sleep for a nap I go outside and get a majority of my work done, and early in the mornings too before he gets up. I get a lot a flack from my family for leaving  him in the house (I’m barely 100 yards away) but I have a monitor and I know my time limits.

-Obviously this is a building complex with security and I am sure apartment has keys so Madeline McCaine seemed a bit far fetched to me. 
-Comments like “hire a sitter” or “ask a friend” are really insensitive! She would have done that so far right..? She says they haven’t been out since having baby...
- Fire comment made me think too...
- I am also curious how people in country side or people living in houses handling this kind of situations? Don’t they just do a barbecue at their backyards..? 
I would just be cautious, leave her for couple times a week for an hour or so and have fun and ignore the negative comments of people who have all sorts of resources like money 💰 💰
