All about drugs???

So my little ones first birthday in a few months and my hubby and i decided on an alice in wonderland theme. My sister doesnt like it and thinks it's trashy since the entire theme of alice in wonderland is about drugs. Shes a wonderful aunt so shes not bad or anything. But im starting to rethink this. What do yall think? Should i change the theme?

It's not all about drugs. There are plenty of kids movies that could be twisted into a dark theme.
Hell, a lot of Disney movies portray a women incapable of doing anything except finding a husband.
I think you do what you want and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Your child your decision. Her opinion really doesn’t matter. You should celebrate this day the way you want and the way that makes YOUR child happy. And I love the theme.

Drug references aside there are lots of characteristics and references to mental health in Alice In Wonderland but then the same can be said for Winnie The Pooh.
I personally don't like the theme, I'm not a massive fan of the book or the film and think it's overdone. But it's a child's party I hardly think anyone is going to be sat there thinking of the adult themes of the story 🤷

Alices Adventures in Wonderland was written in 1865 and c.s lewis was sober. LSD and acid werent a thing then. Granted, the story is a trip, but it wasnt intended to be linked to drug use.

I hate the word trashy and tacky 😤. But no it’s what your child wants so her weird opinion is irrelevant. Plus nobody not kids and not grownups are going to be thinking about drugs at that party lol

Lewis Carroll was high when he wrote the book. Hence the crazy characters, but that does not mean it is all about drugs. If you really think about it EVERY Sisney movie has a dark side to it. Bambie (hunting), Beauty and the Beast (Stockholm Syndrome), Cinderella (Slavery), Pocahontas (Really Happened), Lion King (Based on Hamlet) I could go on. 
Every single thing in life can be twisted into something bad, it is ridiculous. Keep the theme.

Oh I think it’s a really cute theme. I’ve read the book to my children, it’s a really lovely story. You can turn everything into a dark story if you tried hard enough.
