When can you get an IUD postpartum?

Hi ladies! I'm hoping to get a copper IUD as my birth control. I'm 6 weeks pp tomorrow and was wondering if any of you have experience with getting it and when you're able to?

My doctor could have did it 6 weeks but I didn’t decide I wanted one until about 10 weeks. They hyped it up like it was gonna hurt so bad and I didn’t feel it. Like at all. She was like “all done! Hope it wasn’t too bad!” And I was like “I didn’t even know you started!”

Got mine at 8 weeks PP. I felt it, but it wasn’t bad. I took some naproxen beforehand, and I still had some cramping.

I got the mirena put in today and I was just 12 wks pp yesterday. When I went to my 6 wk pp appt. she ordered it then to wait until my second pp period to make sure I wasn’t pregnant. It was just a lot of pressure and cramping but it didn’t hurt as bad as I thought.

My OB didnt do them until at least 8w pp so thats what i did. 
Insertion wasnt bad especially after having a baby. Took a few months for my body to adjust but then had zero issues. Just had it removed last September to TTC and got pregnant in October. Plan on getting another one after this baby is born.
