Bruised back?

My boyfriends spine is bruised but he’s had it for ages. He’s been to the doctors and they’ve done a blood test. Apparently he has pain on the bruising. What could this be?

Looks like he is hurting himself.  Probably repeated pressure against his spine from some sort of daily activity he does... you will have to examine his activities and see what's causing so mucj pressure on his back the skin is bruising from his spine...

Does he do a lot of sit-ups? 
When I was around 13 I'd do sit-ups for hours a day (I had an eating disorder) and I had bruises like that off the hard floor pushing on my back

Have the doctors not suggested anything? I’d get another opinion from a different doctor
