How would you respond?

Question

If your father in law called your husband and aggressively demanded to know if you were abusing your oldest based on a rumor he heard from the family (rumor being completely unfounded) and said if he ever finds the rumors to be true he’s going to call cps? What would you do?

Answer

Be thankful the kids have someone who cares about them.  Talk to your FIL  and talk, ask why he’s asking, ask what he’s basing it off of.  If it’s totally unfounded, then you have nothing to worry about.  But too many kids are abused with no one speaking up on their behalf, so just be thankful your kids have someone in their corner.

Be glad grandpa loves them explain its a rumor with false intent and then invite him to come see the kids for himself to ease his mind.

I'd be happy that I knew there were people who cared THAT much about my children that they had no issue stepping when when they were concerned about thier safety. 
The majority of abuse/rape/ect is done by family members, and people (even family) tend to turn the other cheek because they don't want family conflict or because they don't want to interfere, or because no one ever thinks the parents could hurt there kids. It's good to know that your family has your children's well being at heart and is willing to do what they need to to ensure that they're okay 
Im sure I'd be slightly offended at first because why on Earth would someone hurt thier own kids, but I'd try and look at it from a different 'im glad they care about my children' view
