Do you think it’s rude when people ask when you plan on starting a family, or when you want kids?

So I have been ttc for 2 years and recently went through a miscarriage. I went to my new neighbors house for the first time the other day and brought my dog over.. well we were all cooking out and in front of everyone there she was like “so it’s just you, your husband and your dog? Are you guys not ever wanting kids?”

I just said “Not now.” Because I didn’t want to tell her about how I have been TTC for years and miscarried last month, I knew it would make things awkward. But anyways I just moved on.. I told my friend about it who also has been TTC for a long time and she said she thinks it’s really rude when people ask things like that if they aren’t close to you. What do you think?
