If you started dating someone and found out they had herpes, what would you do?

I would leave anyone who didn’t disclose that upfront because that’s not something you keep quiet. I wouldn’t date someone with herpes but I would highly respect someone truthful about it because that’s someone’s health at risk.

I also have it so it would be silly for me to not want to be with someone because of it. My husband doesn’t have it and we’ve been together for 8 years

A lot of people won’t disclose this very personal information about themselves until they form a trust with you. I can see why people wait to bring it up. I wouldn’t want to open myself up about it, get dumped and then have them tell everyone my medical history. Etc.., 
That being said. Many people have herpes and have no idea. There’s medications, and ways around not transmitting it to your partner.

I’d honestly make sure the person is on medication before I leave or not. If they’re on medication thats fighting off the virus enough that its not transmitable then i’m gonna stay.
