Oversupply of breast milk?

Hey ladies! I’m a first time mom, my baby is one month old today. I believe I have an oversupply of milk - when she feeds it leaks out of her mouth, she coughs, gags, pulls off and it sprays everywhere and the leaking ... oh god the leaking! I’m not complaining at all BUT I was wondering on moms’ experiences with block feeding? The poor girl will feed for 5-10 minutes max and so I’ll think she’s satisfied but then she’s hungry again 30-45 minutes later. I love breastfeeding her but it gets tough when I’m doing it every hour 24/7. She gets super gassy too and fusses at my breast, pulling off, crying, and generally uncomfortable. Any advice?

Sounds like she is getting too much foremilk and not enough hind milk. 
You can do block feeding. Or you can express some into either a towel or pump a little to get off the pressure and store it. 
Right now your body is trying to figure out what to do. The more you pump the more you will produce. 
I personally always have a oversupply and it stays that way. So I pump one side during a feed and nurse from the other. Once you get past the 2ish month hurdle your milk will regulate out and baby will learn to eat more and the oversupply corrects itself. 
I worked full time when I was breastfeeding so I took advantage of the oversupply and created a healthy stash for emergencies or for work or for “mommy time” when I didn’t want to let them nurse and I needed a break.

Normal. What I did was as soon as my milk let down I would swap baby to the other side. When that breast had slowed down I would swap her back to it. I remember I was talking to a friend in a cafe and she laughed and pointed to the baby, when I looked down my son had pulled away and the milk was spraying his face 😆 I felt so bad but it was funny

At 4weeks old you are in the middle of the most intense clusterfeeding period of them all. And baby will most likely eat like that regardless of a oversupply or not. Your milk will typically regulate around 4-6weeks too. This might be helpful:

you have a fast let down. it comes out too quickly and shell cough and itll upset her. try to pump some milk before you begin to feed her maybe, to get that let down going first. I really suggest a Haakaa. I ordered the bumblebee brand on Amazon for $13.00 and its phenomenal. You suction it to your breast and it stays on and just catches the leftover milk. but you can use it to get a letdown and then take it off and apply your baby. 
Shes getting too much fore milk, not enough hind milk. I would say she should be nursing for 10-20 minutes on one breast in order to get enough to feel full for 2+ hours. 
I only feed from one breast during a feeding to make sure my baby gets all the hind milk, because that's going to keep him full.
sounds like your baby definitely needs to stay on the breast longer. 
as for all the leaking, nursing pads all the time. I use the Walmart brand and they work great. if you are wanting to store milk, Amazon has things that can suction to you and catch the excess milk.
Something I would suggest is to try pumping only and see if shell take it in a bottle that has a slow flow nipple!

Ur let down is fast thats why baby coughs, is gassy and all.try to hand express some before offering boob to baby and see if it helps. Baby should be on each boob for atleast 10-15 minutes each nursing session..about oversupply your body is just adjusting to the needs of your baby and it'll take few more weeks to regulate your supply. And your baby is  cluster feeding that's why nursing every hour

Sounds like a strong let down! Hand express a little before latching baby to see if it helps. It will release some of the pressure, and also make sure baby gets more hind milk. I would play with block feeding for a couple more weeks when your supply regulates

It's common for babies at that age to cluster feed as well, so, super frequent feeding is normal. It sounds like you have a strong let down.. I do as well. when my baby was that small, I would hand Express some milk out first so it wouldnt just shoot down her throat like that lol. It takes time for your milk to level out to what your baby needs so at 1 month pp, its pretty normal to still be leaking and for the engorged feeling to still happen.
