I have a newborn who was born 3 weeks early. She had jaundice and issues with her Bilirubin levels. I was pumping and bottle feeding her every two hours so I could make sure she was gaining enough weight. The doc said I can switch over to breastfeeding now that she has gained some weight and my supply is great. I started trying to breastfeed and she latches well during the daytime but at night she is just too lethargic to latch. I have tried undressing her and tickling her face to no avail. I have given up and gone back to pumping/bottle feeding but I would love to be able to breastfeed in the middle of the night. Anyone have a baby that's too sleepy to latch? I could really use some advice!
