What's considered "high risk" pregnancies?

I'm 35 and have heard from multiple people that most doctors will consider a woman who gets pregnant at 35 or older to be "high risk"... Is this true?

I'm 35 and my Dr said that because I have no medical conditions and regular periods (never been pregnant) I am not considered high risk. The only difference that she told me is that we will only wait for 6 months of TTC without luck before seeking interventions rather than waiting a full year.

Yes. They actually start calling it a geriatric pregnancy.

I am 39- will be 40 in a little over a month. My regular doc has used the term geriatric but my obgyn and fertility specialist never have.

I was high risk with my kids at 21 and 24 so I never thought about it before. Now that I'm 35 I guess that would make me even more high risk. Maybe I should just give up.

I don't think age is a hard and fast line. Your OBGYN can tell you if you'll be automatically put into the category.

I think people are high risk for different reasons not just age.  I will be high risk with my next because of extreme scar tissue adhesions. And my first obgyn  said 35 and over was high risk but my second said 40 and over.

I have epilepsy and was having acting seizures, that's high risk as is diabeties or anything that needs an extra eye
