Chiropractor for infants?!?

Question

Someone mentioned a chiropractor for my 14 month old due to her sleep issues. I’ve never even thought about taking her to one. I would like opinions on it. Good? Bad? Yes? No? Let me hear it!

You also don’t realize your baby’s alignment can be out of wack from coming out of the birth canal. So at least getting an alignment done at an early age can set the child up better physically in the long run!

I havent personally taken my kids to one but I know people who do and hear nothing but good things. Helps with colic, torticollis, constipation,  etc.
Just make sure it's one who specializes in pediatrics

My SO and I went to birthing classes led by a highly respected doula in our city. She recommended an infant chiropractor as an option when addressing colic, eating issues, etc. We didn’t end up needing to try one out, but if there was any chance that a visit could help our babe, we would have gone (or will go if needed) without question. I think it a great option to try and highly recommend it! Just make sure you find a reputable one with infant care as their specialty. ♥️

I’ve taken my little one and it helped a bunch! I was sure to find one that works with lots of children, and was able to fully explain what he felt the issues were and how he was going to treat them. I started noticing improvement after about two sessions with a huge improvement after six. Initially we went twice a week, now we’re down to once a month and will start just going with major developmental milestones or if we notice any issues.

I took my son because he had torticollis and a tongue tie and my lactation consultant said a chiropractor would help strengthen his neck and allow him to comfortably breastfeed but literally the chiropractor used a little gun thing on my child’s back (I’ll insert a pic) and we went for 2

months and there was zero improvement on his torticollis or his breast feeding. I ended up not going anymore and forgoing breastfeeding and did exercises at home for his neck. I personally don’t think it was a worthwhile venture when there are many other ways to achieve greater results.

We took our baby when she had colic and acid reflux. The chiropractor was amazing. Havent heard of taking a toddler for sleep issues but it is definitely worth a try!

There is literally nothing a chiropractor can do to help with sleep problems. Chiropractors are largely quacks, especially ones who touch babies. But don't just take my word for it or the anecdotes of randoms on here. There are endless scientific resources that debunk chiropractic philosophy. Sciencebasedmedicine.org has several well sourced pieces that explain things in easy to understand language if reading dry scientific studies isn't your thing.
