Nursing for less than 10 min at a time?!

My 8 week old has gone from nursing 15-20 min on in side to 6-9 min and most of the time that’s only on one side now. I will offer again and he will spit it out or even gag. How can he possibly be getting all he needs n 6-9min? Anyone else experience this? Could it be temporary due to leap?

They get way more efficient at that age. Just watch the wet and dirty diapers but it’s probably normal!

My LO is 10 weeks old and she only eats from one breast at a time anywhere between 5-9 minutes. She’s been doing this for the last month or so.

My LO started doin the same at 8 weeks there were a few times he’d only eat for 4 minutes on one breast then be fast asleep for another 2 hours. He’s still gaining weight and giving me wets and dirties regularly. It definitely makes it nice at the night feedings.

Yep they can get super efficient.  Go by wet diapers.

Same here, makes night feeds easier. We’ve had 3 lactation appointments and he would nurse for about 10min so 5min each breast and he was getting 3-4oz so he’s getting what he needs to be full and happy
