19 month old speech

Hi ladies,

My toddler is 19 months old. He can say Mum, Dad, Bub, Nan and yum (hardly ever uses Nan or Bub, however).

I took him to a Pediatrician just over a week ago, and all she did was ask a few questions, then refer me to a speech pathologist, and told me to go ahead with the hearing test that I have booked for 17 May (earliest possible - private). Note: Since the appointment, I have not been contacted by the Speech Pathologist.

I have been reading up on how to help him develop further with his speech, but he has no interest!

e.g. Every time he wants a drink, I hold the cup in front of him and repeat 'say water...please,' or 'drink...please', but he just screams and throws himself on the floor instead of attempting to repeat after me.

I sit him down to read to him, but he wants nothing but to get up and do other things. And if I get him to stay put, he just screeches over the top of me, not listening anyway.

In the car, I always say things as we see them, 'bus, truck, car, tree, road...' and tell him what I'm doing during the day, but he just babbles over the top of me, yet again, not listening.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can help my son talk?! PLEASE! 😢
