Stopping pumping

I am currently pumping, but I am looking to stop. Right now I am pumped my every 4 hours, if I slowly increase the time between pumps will my supply start to lessen and eventually dry up? I just don't want to get engorged and I figured this would be slower less painful way to stop pumping.
