Subsequent Retrieval / Medication Adjustment?

CR

Ladies - several questions for the group. Could use some insight if any have experience.

Just did an egg retrieval on Thursday. I had 9 follicles. 2 produced nothing. 2 produced immature eggs. 5 produced a total of 5 mature eggs, all of which fertilized. Now it’s the waiting game. (We’re doing PGS testing should they make it that far.) We have an appointment on Monday and I’m trying to gather info so I can ask good questions..

First, we are open to another retrieval. However, I’m wondering if an adjustment of meds is worth asking about? Basically out of 9 follicles, only 5 responded properly. While we’re pleased those 5 fertilized, I’m a little disappointed that 4 came up empty. Thoughts or experiences with this?? Nothing is perfect, but percentage wise that seems like a high number (4 of 9) to get nothing from.

Have any of you done multiple retrieval’s? We’re open to one more. Possibly two more. (Ouch.) But it’s the uncertainty that’s the killer. If each retrieval doesn’t produce much, I think I’d stop after two. Any experiences with this and advice you received?

Have any of you switched gears and saved embryos for subsequent pregnancy and tried medication/timed sex or IUI for the first? We don’t have any male factor infertility. Just diminished ovarian reserve. So it sort of feels like beat the clock. I’m not sure what if any methods would be applicable to try. I was reading somewhere that DOR has more of an affect on IVF Numbers as opposed to natural or IUI as the latter you only need one. IVF they’re aiming for several from the get-go.

Anyway, appreciate any insight!! Fingers crossed for you all in your journey as well.
