Can you feel stitches when placed after natural birth?

So I am pregnant and planning my delivery, I wanted to know if I do tear, if I do not get an epidural will the injection of a local anesthetic be felt after delivery before stitches are placed? I am terrified of delivery and tearing 😭

I needed stitches both times and both times were drug free labors and births. it didn't hurt much, but i was literally high on all that natural oxytocin. the stitches were nothing compared to natural birth.

I gave birth at home and had a second degree tear and definitely felt the shot and the stitches. It sucked but after feeling the ring of fire, it didn’t seem so bad lol

Unfortunately, you feel the lidocaine injection. I was completely terrified of tearing!!! The thought of it still freaks me out going into labor #2. BUT, I didn't even know I tore until she told me. I did hate getting the stitches and don't look forward to it should it happen again. But it's very quick, maybe 20 seconds to inject the lidocaine, a minute or two to stitch (which you shouldn't feel pain, just a little pulling) and it's all over. You can do this, mama!

I tore a just enough to have a few stitches and I felt when she pulled it through once but it didn’t hurt and the rest of them I didn’t feel anything at all.

Unmedicated birth - I literally didn't feel a thing, I wouldn't have even known if I hadn't heard the doc saying what he was doing as he was stitching.

You are bound to be scared it's natural so don't worry 😁 I had gas and air but I couldn't feel them, I felt like a tugging but not the actual needle. I did have a postpartum hemorrhage afterwards so it was quite crazy maybe that also distracted me🤷🏼‍♀️

I went all natural with my first and plan to do with my second as well come this summer. I had a second degree tear and she did the stiches while my baby was on me. I didn’t feel them at all. All I could think and look at was my sweet boy on my chest 🥰

I felt them, but the pain wasn't bad at all compared to birthing a baby. They did numb it first and that helped. And the baby on your chest is a great distraction.

It's really not a big deal. After going through labor and coping though all of that, the lidocaine shot is the least of your worries.. and honestly you'll have that sweet little nugget to distract you. For me it felt like annoying bee sting and a little tugging. At that point I just wanted everything to be done with so I welcomed all of it as quickly as possible so I could be left alone with my baby boy
