Officially a College Student! đ
Hi, guys! The last time I posted something on Eve was about 3 and a half weeks ago and it was something that really hurt my feelings, to the point that I had to call my mom to come and get me from school because I wasnât able to stop crying after it happened. Just petty girl stuff. (Search âToxic Friendshipsâ if you wanna know what happened lol. Self promo đ)
Anyway, itâs been almost a month since itâs happened and I feel so much better. And what I have to talk about it super irrelevant to that situation but whatever. Just wanted to give an update for whoever did read my previous post.
Now! On to the subject of my good mood!
Today was my orientation at Miami Dade College, Kendall Campus! Just to give you some background info, my first choice wasnât Miami Dade, I actually wanted to go out of town for college and I applied to 5 schools (4 out of town and 1 in town). I applied to University of Florida (which was my first choice), University of South Florida, University of Tampa, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and Florida International University. I didnât get into UF or USF, but I got into the other three. I chose Miami Dade though, since itâs free and the Pell Grant will cover my 2 years at Miami Dade.
So, I chose my classes today. So below is the list of classes I will be taking this Fall at Miami Dade College! đ I would also make it known that Miami Dade has a new thing where if you are a certain major, you can take classes to get a General Business Certificate that is used as sorta a minor but itâs integrated in the 60 credits you need to get your AA or AS, so thatâs what some of my classes or for. Btw, Iâm a Mass Communication/Journalism major, so Iâll be getting an AA.
MAR1011 Principles of Marketing, Mondayâs and Wednesdayâs from 1:00 to 1:50pm.
MMC2000 Into to Mass Communications, Tuesdayâs and Thursdays from 9:50 to 11:05 am.
SLS1106 First Year Experience Seminar, Tuesdayâs and Thursdayâs from 8 to 9:40am.
HUM1020 Humanities, Tuesdayâs and Thursdayâs from 11:15 am to 12:30 pm.
Now my last two classes are a bit of a doosey. Youâll see why lol.
MGF1107 Math for Liberal Arts 2, August to October, Mondayâs, Wednesdayâs and Fridayâs from 9:50 to 11:30 am.
MGF1106 Math for Liberal Arts 1, October to December, same time slot as 1107.
The math classes are Miami Dade trying to get freshmen to kill two birds with one stone. You take 1107 first for the first half of the semester and 1106 the second half of the semester during the same time slot so you donât have to change your schedule. My brother told me what humanities was and I already know that itâs probably gonna make me want to die so thatâs great. đ I have already takes both my English classes plus a Public Speaking Class, and all three of them were 3 credits each, so I have 9 credits. My fall classes are a total of 16 credits so by my 2nd semester,
Iâll have 25 credits and Iâll be a little more than halfway to graduation. Miami Dade recommends that students take at least 15 or 16 credits at a time to graduate on time, btw.
I posted this so I could get some advice from you guys, whether it be about the classes Iâm taking or about college life in general. Thank you so much for joining me and my excitement. I can be super annoying if I wanna be, lol. đ
