Piercing babies ears?!

Pierce her ears when she is old enough to give you her opinion. If she wants her ears pierced and asks for it, go for it. But I don't think it's up to us as parents to decide this.

I’m going to pierce my baby’s ear within the first yr.  Just depends when I feel it the right time and I can’t wait. I’m not one of those who thinks she is going to resent me for doing it. I’m her mother. I think when it comes to parenting everyone will do what they feel is right for their child.

I have 9 piercings, but my daughter won’t be getting any until she’s old enough to have an opinion about it and appreciate it. (And, as someone else mentioned, there are a lot of opportunities for things to get caught on little kids’ earrings and rip them out... older seems a lot safer.)
I remember getting mine pierced with my mom when I was 13, and it was so exciting and fun!  If it’s something she chooses to do, I want us to do it together and for her to remember it that way.

I had my ears pierced for my 10th birthday. The way my parents explained it to me was that it is a responsibility. If you pierce them when they are so so young, it is the parents responsibility to clean and care for them. But if you wait, the child is in charge of taking care of them. It teaches that if the child wants to have this (very minor) body modification it is there responsibility to keep up with it.

I'll wait until she's at least 10. That's what my mum did for us - my sister nearly had hers torn out by a helmet strap when she was ~12 while we were playing a game. 
That's my biggest concern - accidental injury. Less likely if they're a bit older.

Younger is better because they won’t mess with them and they don’t notice when they are old enough to mess with them because they’ve always had them. So they don’t get infected IMO. 
I think I waited until 2 for DD to want them, mainly because I was lazy about getting it done. Mine were pierced at like 5 weeks or something. Then I added more on my own later, but back to just my originals now that I’m over that phase. 
DS wanted them at the same time (he was 6) we did it as Valentine’s Day presents/activity. 
DS has more infection issues because #1 he’s a boy so he’s kind of gross anyways lol and #2 he loses his good earrings and someone sticks some cheapos in his ears. 
That part is the worst to me, the metal issue, I only use gold and the one time their dumbass dad bought DD earrings, I spent like a week cleaning infected ears with a crying kid due to cheap metal. 
My main thing about it is that if you’re lazy, your kid shouldn’t have pierced ears until they can do everything themselves and protect themselves against “soooo cute” costume earrings. 
Other than that, 
Unpopular opinion: I also think that people who circumcise shouldn’t  talk smack to ear piercing parents because both are unnecessary and cosmetic but at least earring holes can be reversed if you want to argue the “personal choice, wait until they can choose” route, then you better feel the same about both.

I had my daughters done around 4 mo. Granted, she messed with them and they fell out so I’m not sure if I plan on getting them done again. But I was happy that my parents had mine done. Most girls have their ears pierced, honestly I don’t think I know any female without their ears pierced, not that that matters. But I think it’s up to you

I took my son to get his ears pierced when he was 7 years old. I wanted to allow him to be able to express when things get wrong or if something was bothering him. Plus, it’s easier to keep them clean as children are older. 
Personally, I’d wait until your child can make the choice for their self. A baby cannot tell you something is wrong. Also, a piercing gun is not the way to get ears pierced. It’s best to go to a tattoo shop.

I personally think it’s acceptable to pierce your babies ears! I had mine done when I was 2 months old and to be perfectly honest I’ve never thought about it!
If you want to pierce babies ears go for it! It’s much safer for baby to get them done with a professional piercer over a place like Claire’s though - so definitely do your research first! My niece got hers done at 4 months she doesn’t even notice that she has them and they put flat backs on them these days!!
