Kitties and the new baby?
My husband and I (as well as our families) have different opinions on what to do about our kitties once the baby is born. They are used to sleeping in our bed, and having full roam of the house. My MIL thinks we should exile them to the garage or simply get rid of them once the baby is born (definitely not happening). I think we should keep them out of the bedroom and the new baby room while the baby and we are sleeping. My husband thinks it's unlikely that the cats will try and lay on the baby and accidentally smother her while we are all asleep but I don't want to take the chance. Is it really so bad to have the kitties around the new baby? One of my main concerns is allergies (I'm allergic but manage it with Claritin) but I didn't know what challenges people with kitties have faced once the new babies arrive. Any thoughts?
