What are your newborn Do’s and Dont’s ?

Question

What rules/restrictions did you ask people to abide by when you had your baby? This refers to hospital visitations and at home. 
Ex: no kissing baby’s face, no smoking near baby, etc.

My rules were: 
No smoking near baby
Wash hands before holding ( mainly in newborn stage)
Don't kiss if you're getting over sickness or have cold sore
And my biggest rule:
DO NOT stick your finger in my babies mouth!!!!! 
For some reason my MIL had the hardest time listening to that damn rule! And it drove me insane. She would stick her finger in his mouth and let him suck on it. Or try to feel for teeth. I couldn't even tell you how many times my husband and I lost our cool on her for this.

Don’t wake a sleeping baby. My MIL did this all the time. She would purposely touch him to wake him up so that she could hold him.

One I haven’t read anyone else say that I think it super important: 
If I say my child is tired and needs a nap, give me my damn baby. If I say give him to me, then GIVE HIM TO ME!

Wash ur hands before touching baby and no kissing the baby period. My mil was the hardest one to get to understand no kissing

If you have a cold then stay away was my main rule. 
My SIL called and asked to visit when she had a cold. I said no. My husband said ok once she said she wouldn’t hold the baby. 
She came over and I came back from going to the toilet and she was HOLDING THE BABY! He was two weeks old and got sick. To say I was absolutely LIVID would be an understatement

My main rule was no kissing at all. Washing hands was a big one. The rule I wish I would have had was please no one visit longer than an hour. Christ almighty, people would stay at my house to visit for HOURS, it drove me absolutely insane.

Never really had any. Guess our families have always been pretty good about not intentionally waking up napping children and going outside to smoke.🤷🏼‍♀️

It was the beginning of flu season so washing hands, nobody has ever been allowed to kiss her lips or face (I don’t kiss my kids on the lips), I wasn’t bringing baby out to see people, people were asked to call first not just show up.
