Are IUDs really effective in avoiding pregnancy? I've heard they are up there in the highly effective methods, but I've heard stories of women getting pregnant regardless. Any advice? Help?

Statistically it is the most effective form of birth control, and it's effectiveness doesn't go down with typical use because it is impossible to screw up.

I have PCOS, we're at the tale end of a 10 year fertility prep work. I recently got pregnant and stayed pregnant for 9 weeks a HUGE victory for us. And it was with the IUD.

Its super rare, if you're concerned do a string check to make sure it sits in the right spot. And use condoms!
