The contractions were the worst! Pushing the baby out was nothing, could have done that 10 times over :p I had a natural home birth without medication

I say both I felt pain until I got epidural. So I didn't feel anything until I had to push because they lower my dosage.

Contractions were bearable for majority of my labor. When I was getting closer to the end the pain got to be too much for me to think clearly so I asked for a low dose epidural so I could still feel when to push. That helped a ton! When I started pushing I could feel the contractions again but the epidural took most of the pain away and i didn't feel anything when my son came out.

I got an epidural when it looked like I was headed for c-section - the contractions were so uncomfortable that I couldn't count through them any more. I ended up with a vaginal birth. The epidural was still pretty strong when it came time to push, so all I could feel was a vague pressure, it was fantastic. I pushed out an 8.5 lb baby in about 40 minutes. Didn't feel the tearing that happened or the repair. Will probably go for an epidural next time too.

My contractions weren't painful. They were just uncomfortable. I got the epidural at 7cm and I still wasn't in pain. I didn't want to be without it in case I tore or had to be cut. The epidural was on a drip and I purposely gave myself too much so I could make sure it lasted through all the pushing and the stitching up.

My epidural didn't work, after 29 hours of labor and over 3 hours of pushing my 7 lb 10oz baby boy was here. I have to say, I literally thought I was going to die.
