What does an asthma attack feel like?

The other day I was in class and I suddenly felt a weird/painful feeling in the back of my throat. Every time I took a breath I started coughing really hard, and it was during the time everyone was presenting😬 if I took really small breaths through my nose it wasn’t as bad. This lasted for about 5 minutes and it sucked

I don’t have asthma that ik of, but I have really bad allergies and I live in a place with a lot of smoke from fields. My mom smoked when she was pregnant with me also
