What are your thoughts on foreign names? Like names that are very popular across the world, but unheard of where you live?

My fiancé is from the Ukraine, our first son has a pretty common American name, but our second son is Slavic as to honor his culture. I personally LOVE names from around the world. ♥️

I think there's a fine line to be drawn here short of appropriation. It's one thing to name your kid something that honors an ethnic tradition from which it comes, and it's another for white westerners to name their kids "foreign" things because they think its unique.

Absolutely love them! My name is Calista, which isn’t too foreign but my family is originally from Greece so it has meaning to us!

My daughters name is Hindi/ Gujarati her name is Yashawini, it’s what we wanted to name her 🤷🏻‍♀️ she’s half Indian after all but we named her off the meaning of the name which is “successful lady” we wanted something strong and unique. Far too many overly used girl names in our area, we wanted her to stand out. 
We call her “Wini” like Winnie the Pooh for short

If you like it go for it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wasn’t born in the states so I have a foreign name as do most immigrants
