Walk me through my first IUI?

Question

Possibly having my first IUI in a day or two..(pretty crampy so hopefully I'll get a positive ovulation test tomorrow!). Was wondering if someone would literally walk me though the process of the morning? ( we will be using my husband's sperm) Thanks in advance!

We used donor sperm but the process is the same. My RE checked the sample, and told us count and motility. It’s then put in a syringe with a long catheter on the end (like a long skinny tube). 
I laid on the exam table, she inserted the tube up through the cervix into the uterus, pushed in the sperm, and then pulled the syringe out. It is a super quick and painless process (I felt like a tiny little pinch when she went through my cervix but that was it).
Then she just had me lay on the table for about 15 minutes, then I left! I had a trigger shot so I tested just about every day after that to test out the trigger, then about 10-11 days later I got my positive! 
I’ve had 2 IUIs - they both worked on the first try! I was so nervous before my first one, but it was super easy.

So interested in the differences of IUI and IVF.  Is IUI commonly used if you can get pregnant?  I have gotten pregnant but miscarried. Doctors says im fine to keep trying and wondering if IUI is better and less costly route to do but not sure. Still confused about the process.
