It’s tough working at a fertility clinic

M

Started ivf today. Spent 5 hours at the fertility clinic meeting different departments to get all the scheduling, steps, demos and tests. I have so much respect for the personnel working there. They have tough jobs because I’m sure we are all an emotional wreck.

Genetic counsellor..... tried to explain to me how the stats are against me cuz I’m 42 but also tried so hard to tell me all we need is one good embryo. So sweet of her. I already knew that. lost a little boy to trisomy 18 in 2017.

Fertility doctor who did SHG..... knew I’m 42 and old lol but tried his best to throw some jokes and tell me he wants to make sure my uterus is in top shape to welcome the embryos. Awwwwwww

Nurse..... knew the odds are against me when it comes to egg counts and health. She tried to show me the “truth” but also showed me apps like fertilecalm to calm my nerve, told me about support group in the clinic and free counselling for first time ivf patients with no kids.

Sorry for the long post. Guess what I’m trying to say is when we think they are being “insensitive”. They are trying their best in very sensitive situations.
