Lip tie and breastfeeding

Hello, my lactation consultant has told us my son has a moderately significant lip tie. He is 10 days old. He is eating a lot, but needs to use a nipple shield and also keeps getting a blister on his lip from sucking. He’s already gained back more than his original birth weight, and has only had one night so far of cluster feeding. He can latch on to breast but it doesn’t last long. I’ve heard lip ties can go away on their own over the years. Anyone have experience with this? Unsure of what to do next, if anything at all.
