Anyone else’s baby hate the soothie pacifiers???

So this is my 2nd baby and both of my kids hated these pacifiers! I got them because they are so popular and the nurses recommended them for breastfed babies but my 3 week old doesn’t take his very well. It takes him a while to latch on to it but it falls out of his mouth while he’s sucking, same exact thing happened with my first baby a few years ago! Has anyone else had this happen too?? With my first we ended up getting regular pacis (mam I think) and she took it much better. I’m just worried it will throw off his breastfeeding also. Recommendations welcome!

I hate those pacifiers with a passion! Mam is my favorite and is the second most recommend for breastfeeding babies idk why Avent is number 1

My son would hold it in his own mouth at like 2 weeks old. Hes 9 months now and hates it. He stopped taking it around 3 months.

My kids have only ever used MAM. They for some reason won’t take any other brand but at least these have sizes that grow with them

My 6 week old HATES them. She never has liked them. She really likes the MAM pacifiers by NUK. They also sit flush with her face so when she’s thrashing around she doesn’t accidentally knock it out.

During our infant care class before the baby was born, a Pediatric orthodontist came to talk to us and HIGHLY discouraged these pacifiers and any pacifier that is not labeled orthodontic for a few reasons related to oral development. The shape should mimic the inside of the mouth and be the appropriate size. I highly recommend Nuk Newborn for 0-2 months and following the size grouping as you move up. You are supposed to replace them every few months apparently anyway so it doubly makes sense to get the very specific age/size (as opposed to the ones that say 0-6 or 6—12, etc).

My son hated them also. We ended up not using any pacifiers at all and it’s been amazing. He is 10 months now and never needed one.

My son loves his and can hold them in his mouth, we just started using the Wubbanub as well and it’s a godsend.  
My niece is 11 months though and she doesn’t like the Avent.  Something to do with the texture of them.  Apparently she had a thing between the circular vs bear shaped ones too.
