Traumatizing Birth
I went in on April 25th to start my induction. I ended up having contractions showing up on the monitor but it only felt like tightening. The on call doctor said to hold off on the cervadil and see what my body does on it's own.
3am rolls around and we are starting the cervadil. At 6 the pitocin is started. I got the epidural at about 8:00. Laid down and at 8:30ish my daughter's heart rate dipped so they rolled me on to my right side. The acid reflux kicked into over drive and at 9ish I was rolled on to my left side where I was actually able to get some rest. At about 9:45 my nurse checked my cervix and felt a butt cheek. So in comes the ultrasound machine and the doctor. Sure enough my daughter was frank breech and I was dilating fast (I went from a 3-6 in about an hour).
I was freaking out, crying. Trying to wrap my head around the fact that I was not able to deliver her vaginally. I had about 10 people coming and going to prep me for surgery. I was ripping out my canulas in the OR and had to be given additional medicine to calm me down.
At 10:32am, Melissa was born on April 26th!
Due to her being frank breech she has congenital hip dysplasia and we start the long journey of getting her hips fixed with the orthopedic surgeon next Wednesday! Wish us and our beautiful baby girl luck that it's an easy fix!
