When to take newborn out?

Hi all! I'm posting this in a few locations to get all the info I can from all the different moms out there!
I will be a FTM in September and I'm curious when you think it is okay to bring baby out to a more public setting? 
Places such as; the gym, birthday party, the mall etc. Places that have more people/germs.

Up to you! I started going on walks with the stroller almost immediately with both of mine. I probably started running errands with the baby strapped to me after 2-3 weeks.

We’ve got three older boys that are all in school. Not going out is not gonna be an option. Not to mention the germs are going to end up being brought into the house to us no matter how hard I try for them not to be.
My plan is going to be putting this little one in a carrier on me so no one is touching her or breathing on her. Also if she ends up in her car seat to drape a lightweight breathable blanket over the top to try and stop peeking and touching if she’s not in the carrier on mine or my partner’s chest.

I took my first out at 3 days old.  I also have friends who don't go out for months. It is really up to you. 😊

Besides first appointments, I took my son out at around two weeks. I would have taken him earlier but I had a difficult recovery and couldn’t walk until then

I went furniture shopping on my daughters second day haha went straight from the hospital. Also where I live you have to take newborns to an appointment at 3 days old.

Since baby is due at the beginning of flu/RSV season I intend on wearing her or having a cover over her car seat anytime we go out to very public places. My first was a NICU baby though so I’m extra paranoid.

I went out with my first when she was 3 days old, 1 day after getting home from the hospital. My husband has a week off after she was born and I wanted to get out as much as could so that I felt comfortable taking her and going wherever by myself. She was an August baby, so not  super bad time of year for germs.

I started taking my son out at 2 weeks with the doctors approval and encouragement. He got his first cold at 8 weeks thanks to my husband bringing it home. He is a super healthy almost 2 year old now. I think it is a great discussion to have with the Doctor once the baby is here because every baby is different.

This is a great question.  I’m having slight anxiety taking the baby to Thanksgiving at my Mom’s house in November.  I didn’t even think of all other places.  🤦🏽‍♀️
