Pets hamster!

I absolutely love hamsters. They’re my second favorite animal, dogs being my first. I’ve had a hamster before who died of old age. Ever since then I’ve been wanting one so bad. I live in an apartment with my mom and siblings so having a dog isn’t much of an option. I say this because we live in a small apartment and I don’t think it’s ideal for dogs because they usually need a spacious home along with a yard. I’m turning 18 in a couple weeks and would love love love to get a hamster as a present.

I’ve talked to my mom about it and so far all she’s said is no. She’s scared my sisters cat Cleo will try to get to it, which I understand. But, the cat doesn’t go in my room that much anyway and of course if I got a hamster I’d do everything to keep it safe.

Idk I just really really want a hamster. Any suggestions on how to convince my mom?
