So I just found out im pregnant however it was unplanned, I have been with my partner for 2 and a half years but we were friends for many years before that. I’m worried about telling him as I know he’s not mentally ready for a child.

I make a decent amount of money and so that’s not an issue for us or any extra stress but I know he will react badly to the news, I’m trying to prepare myself for whatever his reaction may be but I just can’t think of the right way to tell him.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?

Update: telling him today as he lost a close friend yesterday so I didn’t feel like dropping another bombshell on him right away

I think I will just sit him down and tell him straight up, and then give him some time to just let it sink in. I’m just telling myself that even if he reacts badly it’s a lot of news to tell someone unexpectedly so not to take his first reaction as his only reaction

UPDATE No2: I told him, he surprised me a lot by staying calm and rational, he even referred to it as ‘starting a family’ which made me happy beyond words!
