Potty training??

Question

I have a little boy that will be 4 in July. He refuses to potty train. When I put him on the toilet he screams bloody murder. I have tried potty seats, taking him with me when I potty, when my boyfriend goes. I've even tried bribing with treats to get him to go. All I get from him when I try and get him to go is "no, I know where my pee/poop is" then goes in his pants. Idk what to do with him but he is supposed to start school in August but can't if he is still not potty trained. Does anyone have any advice?

I would actually discuss this with your pediatrician if he’s almost 4. I’m sure you’ve tried similar things, but I would find a weekend, or long stretch of time, that you can just stay in the bathroom with him completely naked. I did this with my daughter, brought lots of books and toys, and brought a little speaker so we could listen to music. We also coupled a sticker chart with treats. She got a chocolate chip if she peed, and we got a few Kinder eggs for poops.  By day two she was doing well, and she has only had a handful of accidents in the past three months. Most of them were because I couldn’t get her to a potty in time.

My kids were late trainers too, but we did get it done before 4.  
Some things to try - this is going to be like all kid challenges - lots of trial and error.
- a weekend without pants (he can wear a shirt - take him to the bathroom every 30 mins to an hour)
- have him stand to pee (one of my boys was scared to sit on the toilet, but had no problem standing and peeing - he was pee trained for about 10 months before he finally was ok with sitting on the toilet and pooping)
- the bootcamp potty training programs where your kid is trainer in 3 day...we never tried them, but lots of people rave about them.
- Rewards/bribery (It took a bribe to get my kid who was afraid of the toilet to take that first poop)
- Cheerios ion the toilet (makes peeing a game - they have to hit the Cheerios)
- Try a training urinal - they have them on Amazon.
It is so frustrating when all the signs of readiness are there, but they just lack the will to use the toilet.

My 3 year old (4 in January) sounds a lot like your little guy. He’ll go in the potty when he’s in the mood for an M&M but refuses to wear underwear, so it’s been really convenient for him to just go in his diaper when he doesn’t feel like it. My husband and I are pretty fed up, so we ordered a steam cleaner for our couch and as soon as this box of diapers runs out were telling him ‘his diapers went bye bye and he has to be a big boy now’ and forcing the underwear. We’re hoping that he’ll hate going in his undies and will want to use the potty. Not sure if your guys is wearing underwear or not but his pediatrician seems to think the diapers are the problem and we should see results.
