Swearing on someone’s life

We all know someone who has said “I swear on my (loved one)’s life I’m not lying.” Or we may have said this ourselves at one point.

People say it’s just words, people lie under oath, if they’re lying about something they don’t care either way and are just trying to get away with it.

Others say it’s always something they believe because they “wouldn’t risk something happening to the person they mentioned”
