When can I start pumping?

I had baby May 1st 
I just want to pump so I can get some sleep and my husband can bottle feed the baby sometimes.

🙄 this isn’t how BF works! 
You need to feed on demand for about six weeks, it’s just something you have to commit to.

I have used a pump while in the hospital after my son was born which now I have over 30 bags in the freezer ready to go and Leo is now 3 weeks old and has the bottle and the breast switches to both perfectly fine I do use a breast feeding bottle tho think that's why it has been OK for him. It's up to you no one else can tell you what's right for you and your baby as long as baby is fed that is what matters. Ps it's amazing to have the hubby bottle feed in the morning for extra sleep 😁

Ugh, I was told to pump by the lactation consultant.  Welcome to motherhood where everyone has gotten different advice so you are better off just doing what works for you or your dr tells you.

I was told to wait at least until 2 weeks to feed by bottle, better to wait 3 weeks. That was to ensure breastfeeding was well established. That said, I had a really hard time with it and introduced the bottle a little earlier and it was fine. I also started pumping almost immediately after baby was born because my milk was delayed coming in so you can start pumping any time now.
