How I'm the world am I getting positive ovulation tests while on the pill??

I am on birth control pills and I bought a combination of HCG and opk test strips ( they were bundled together so I figured I'd try them ). I didnt expect to get days worth of positive tests. From what I've read, I am not supposed to ovulate or have a LH surge. Does someone know why this might be happening? Does this mean my birth control not working??

My understanding is they are supposed to stop ovulation but don’t always. If you do ovulate and it gets fertilized it also works to prevent the egg from implanting to the uterine wall. I would use backup just in case if you are getting positive tests.

Sounds stupid do ask, but have you taken a pregnancy test? Just because I know people who have gotten a positive ovulation test when they are on the pill and they have turned out to be pregnant? X

I've also been getting a lot of mid cycle acne this month. Normally I dont start breaking out until I start taking the placebo pills.

I’d say it’s possible that BC isn’t working for you. What type are you on? Normally, you don’t ovulate on birth control pills unless you’re missing it frequently. Although, if it’s the mini-pill, it does not always stop ovulation. It’s supposed to but does not work consistently. BC pills work in a few different ways: suppressing ovulation, thickening cervical mucus and thinning uterine wall. All of these things help protect against pregnancy but nothing is 100%. Maybe it’s a false positive OPK but I’d talk to your doctor.
