Does folic acid help you get pregnant

It can’t help you get pregnant but once you get pregnant it’s advised to take it with a prenatal. I’ve NEVER heard it potentially causing a miscarriage and I’ve had a miscarriage before. If that is true I feel like the doctor would’ve told me that it was due to the folic acid in my prenatal?

A lot of people lack the enzyme to break down folic acid and they don't know it,  it's estimated that over 50% of the population can't. Why not just take folate instead anyways when it's known that folic acid is synthetic and can potentially be harmful?

It can actually cause you to miscarriage or have birth defects. It's synthetic and some people can't break it down. Please take folate instead.

Won’t help you get pregnant,  but it helps to prevent neural tube birth defects that occur before you find out you’re pregnant. That part of baby begins to develop VERY early and problems occur shortly after implantation. It’s recommended to take it daily at least one month before TTC
