If you found out your child had it, would you still keep it knowing the struggles both you and the child would have, emotionally and financially?

Husband is convinced we wouldn't keep it,  but it's not inside of him. I cannot decide as I have friends with a downs/autistic child and I see what it has done to their family, their marriage and their finances.

My mom found out my baby sister (2yrs old; I'm 22 lol) had down syndrome while being pregnant and she considered all the options but in the end she wouldn't abort her child and this is my sister now, and we love her to pieces and have never regretted having her in our family!!!! She is a blessing like any other child and is just as smart as anyone else!!!

A baby with down/autism is still a baby no matter what each family is different and cope with the situation differently. Some know how to handle it well than others. If my babies had it i would still keep them because they are human beings too and they deserve a chance at life. It's selfish if you only think of yourself and what it could do to your marriage and financial issues. All lives matter no matter what the circumstances are. Be blessed with what you have than what you want. You can't always have thins go your way. Especially during a pregnancy.

I work with children and adults that have Down Syndrome, Autism, etc. and I can't personally imagine someone wanting to abort because of that. Yes, it will be hard and very trying at times. But these people/kids are also amazing and deserve to live a fulfilling life like everyone else. I feel truly blessed that I get the opportunity to have them impact MY life in a positive way.

I would never abort a child, but if you feel you simply couldn't give that child the life it deserves adoption is a great choice.

I couldn't imagine my life without my beautiful daughter who has Down's syndrome. That seems very selfish to get rid of your baby because you don't want to deal with the challenges! The moment you decide to have a child you are accepting what that child will bring!

I am faced with this decision now. It is not easy and I wish you the best of luck. I am considered a high risk pregnancy due to a cystic hygroma which could be a sign of a chromosomal disorder. We will get more of a clear sigh at our next ultrasound but the thought of us having to make this decision is terrible. Whatever you choose, make sure you're ready either way for how it will be. First off it is your choice and whatever you decide you can know it was right FOR YOU. For me Personally it would depend on how far along I was and how sure they were that it had a genetic disorder. There are always chances of  false positives (and negatives) . If it was a "slight chance" and I was farther along I would probly not consider aborting. If doctors said for sure it had something major (given I was healthy and seemingly able to get pregnant again) and I wasn't too far along,  I might consider it.

I emotionally, financially wouldn't b able to give it everything it needs so I personally would find a family that can't get pregnant that could financially take care of it and go from there. Good luck
