Experienced moms... Do you recommend FTMs attending a birthing class?

Some of my friends who have babies say that the classes are not necessary, that the nurses will tell you what to do the whole time, but then other day they are really educational.

I took one and actually enjoyed it. I still use some of the breathing techniques to this day to help manage daily pain. The nurse that taught the class ended up being my nurse all day so it was nice that I "knew" her.

L&D nurses do know everything and you have a lot of time with them if you'd rather not.  However, a class is a good place to ask and learn about misc. things like stages of labor, pitocin, epidurals, episiotomies, etc. that you might wish you knew. before you're dealing with contractions.  If you feel informed enough about childbirth, I also took breastfeeding and infant CPR classes that were definitely worth taking.

Not necessary. We didn't with our 1st and found everything to be calming and just went with the flow. Put your faith in your nurses. They've got this

My mom had five kids, she also was an RN on OB for years and years. I was still so glad I took the class with my first. The nurses won't have time to teach you what's comfortable for your body when they come in to help you push

Took the class with my hubby. It helped when he remembered stuff was normal during labor. We did all of the classes lactation, baby care, delivery, and cpr. My husband has used the cpr class twice now and recommends it to everyone. Luckily he went with me as I panicked when the time came to use it on her.

I'm glad I took one I when the interventions came they weren't foreign terms. The nurses explained things but in the moment taking things in is different.

I personally didn't get the chance to attend any birthing classes with my son who is now ten.
However, my husband and I will be attending classes this time around as I feel he needs the heads up as to what he should expect (this is his first) and I won't be in any fit state to be calming him down when I'm in labour lol.

I've also put on my birth plan for anyone involved to please communicate openly with my husband as the last thing I want for him is for him to be panicking and for it to be a traumatic experience for him.
